Description

The huipile is a traditional, square-cut blouse that is hand-woven and heavily decorated with embroidered designs.

It is the most important part of the Maya woman’s costume. The weave, design and style of each huipile is indicative of the village it is from.

The huipiles are made with a back-strap loom by the women of the village, they take approximatively 3 months to make.

This unique huipile is from Chichicastenango, Guatemala.
